Summary: (from Goodreads)
Princess Sepora of Serubel is the last Forger in all the five kingdoms. The spectorium she creates provides energy for all, but now her father has found a way to weaponize it, and his intentions to incite war force her to flee his grasp. She escapes across enemy lines into the kingdom of Theoria, but her plans to hide are thwarted when she is captured and placed in the young king’s servitude.
Tarik has just taken over rulership of Theoria, and must now face a new plague sweeping through his kingdom and killing his citizens. The last thing he needs is a troublesome servant vying for his attention. But Mistress Sepora will not be ignored. When the two finally meet face-to-face, they form an unlikely bond that complicates life in ways neither of them could have imagined.
Sepora’s gift may be able to save Tarik’s kingdom. But should she risk exposing herself and her growing feelings for her nemesis?
I absolutely loved this book. It draws you into this fantasy world from the very beginning. (It starts off with Princess Sepora fleeing her country on her dragon-like pet) It was a fun read from the beginning of the book to the very end.
This book alternates between two different points of view. One is Sepora and the other is Tarik. Both of them are royalty and both of them have to make very difficult choice.I liked the Sepora’s character. She uses her wit and intelligence to overcome many challenges. She helps Tarik overcome many challenges while hiding her real identity. I really liked how Sepora’s recklessness always got her into interesting situations. Although I liked Sepora, I liked Tarik’s character more. Tarik is a young boy who has to become king at a young age because his father has been taken by the Quiet Plague. The author doesn’t hesitate at throwing many difficult choices at Tarik. He tries his best to rule his country. Tarik is good king and a good person. They both work together to prevent war between Theoria and Serubel.
The book has a very interesting world. It has war, history, romance and fantasy all wrapped up into one book. It was a fast and easy book to read. I can’t wait for the next book to be released.
